Short-sea operator Euro Marine Logistics (EML) has begun operating a new ro-ro service between Spain, Belgium, France and the UK.

The company, a joint venture between Mitsui OSK Lines and Höegh Autoliners, said in March that it would be deploying two medium-sized vessels, each with a capacity of 1,500 car equivalent units (CEU), on the new Biscay route from April 1st.

The service will run on a four-day frequency, docking at Santander (Spain), Zeebrugge (Belgium), Le Havre (France) and Southampton (UK).

According to the company, the Biscay service can be connected to its existing Scan service at Zeebrugge, allowing for shipments into Esbjerg (Denmark), Drammen (Norway) and Gothenburg (Sweden); as well as to its Baltic service connecting to Hanko (Finland) and St Petersburg (Russia).

“Our aim is to offer a reliable solution for the transportation of new and used vehicles in the Biscay region with the highest quality and efficiency, as in our existing services,” said the company in a statement.
